Cheese sammy & Walking

John Dickson and I were locked out last night, so while we waited on dad to get home, we went to Quiznos to get that little man something to eat. It was his first time getting his very own meal at a restaurant, and he chose a grilled cheese sammy. He ate the entire thing! He was a huge ham the whole time we were there. He was completely turned backwards in his high chair, and whenever I would say "more?" he would turn around, mouth wide open, accept another bite, and then turn back around. He loves to stare at people... which is ok when those people are smiling at him or talking to each other about how funny he is, but this time he was just staring... and I kept waiting for them to kindly ask me to turn my baby around... But they didn't :-) He then decided he really liked the ceiling in there, so he would throw his head completely back, making his mom worried he would choke... so I would pull his head back up, and then it became a game. So John Dickson would throw his head back again with his mouth full of food, lips pursed together, smiling while holding the food in. I wish he wasn't so darn precious when he is being bad, but it is seriously one of my favorites! I hope Im still saying that when he is a teenager...

It's hard to say when exactly John Dickson started to walk, but it all started with his lion (video below...) about 4 weeks ago. Once he decided that he liked to walk and wanted to walk, he was walking all the time, with us holding his hand. Then it was a step here or there - too hard to really call - as it was more of a stumble, and then a few days ago he was walking halfway across the room. It's still not consistent, and he doesn't take multiple steps everyday, but he will take one or two without even thinking about it. It helps if he is focused on something. Like yesterday, he picked up his huge toy that the balls pop out of, and he just started walking with it. I dont even really know how he picked it up! But he is pretty adorable when he walks... we'll have to get a video up soon.

Today is my last day of work (whoo hoo!!!) and that means only 3 more days until John Dickson's birthday. Until then...
