A trip to the doctor

Little John Dickson went back to the pediatrician yesterday and weighed in at a whopping 13 lbs, 8.5 ounces and was 23.75 inches long. He rolled over twice before his appointment and the doctor did not believe us since normally that doesn't happen until 4 months. Well, we taped him doing it tonight and we'll post it soon. That's probably all for now. Thanks for checking in and I'm sure we'll have all kinds of awesome cuteness coming soon.

We heart Daddy

I thought it only fitting to put a blurb on here about how well John Dickson/Adam bonding days have been going since I've been back at work. Adam takes it personally that John Dickson wears his cranky pants all day, so I have to remind him of all the days I didnt get to brush my teeth until 2 in the afternoon. As I'm sure you can tell from all of the pictures and videos, Adam is fantastic with the baby - and I'm so lucky to have someone as wonderful as him to share a child with. It would be very difficult to leave John Dickson every morning with anyone else, but Adam makes going to work as easy as it can be. I only wish the two of them weren't so cute sleeping every morning when I leave (John Dickson in his pack n play & Adam in the bed).

As a side note, John Dickson is finally getting on a schedule! YAY! He gets a bath every night now, right before its time to eat again (unless he hasn't had a dirty diaper since he last ate - we learned that that combined with a bath can be a pretty gross little adventure). And then he eats and half the time will fall asleep. The other half of the time he refuses to close his eyes, but is content to just be held or rocked. But he's now asleep between 9:30 and 10:30, which is a huge improvement from his 12:30 nights. And he slept 8 1/2 hours the other night - straight. It was beautiful. He's only done that once, but he is now consistently sleeping 6-7 1/2 hours every night.

I have to go back to the wild world of accounting now, so until next time...

A little mobile fun

John Fickson has decided the dinosaur mobile is one of his favorite things ever. The following is a video of him staring at it and some of those smiles and coos Amanda mentioned in the last post. A slow week this week, but next week we go back to the pediatrician!

Slow Week

Not a whole lot of new stuff going on in the little one's life, but he has decided that the dinosaur mobile in his crib is maybe his favorite thing in the world. Here are a couple of videos showing off those smiles and coos Amanda mentioned in the last post. In my totally unbiased opinion, it is the cutest stuff ever created ever.

More cuteness

John Dickson has started cooing and giving responsive smiles. He spends half his time in his Baby Einstein gym, working out to get his swimsuit bod. He still loves his swing, and he got a book called "Incredible Me" that he just thinks is hilarious. And bathtime has recently become a new favorite for him, which is a nice change. Jessica Ashmore gave him a bear bath towel last week, and he looks just like a little teddy bear when he gets out of his bath. Pictures below.
Last weekend Bobbie, Dick, and Randy stopped by on their way back from Jackson's graduation, and Randy got to meet the little guy. It was such a great surprise to see all of them!
John Dickson spent this past week in Asheville where the staff at the Doubletree thought he was so cute they bought him a present! And mom and dad got extra cookies. All in all it was a pretty good week. He's been bonding with his dad all week while mom is back at work.

John Dickson the World Traveler

John Dickson had a pretty busy last two weeks partying through 5 states. He started out in Columbia to meet some of Big Linda/Granny Pants/Granny Banany/The Riddler's friends - Party #1, went to his first med school graduation party - party #2 (he's super proud of his Dr Aunt Erin and Dr Uncle Jason) and was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran. He was actually in a state of happy awakeness during the service, with only a few tears as Pastor Gary tricked him into thinking it may be bathtime. Anyhow, he celebrated with a cake shaped like a baby bootie - party #3.

Adam took John Dickson down to Hartsville to spend some quality time with his Great Grand Bobbie and Great Grand Dick, and John Dickson received a very special gift - a cup Dick was given when he was a baby that says "J D Kelly". Now he really cant wait to have some control over his hands so he can use it! And also so he can finally quit punching himself in the face. We'll post the pictures with the Grands as soon as we get them.

We took John Dickson through North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia to Maryland where he met Dr. Fananapazir, who said that although nothing is for sure until he is 4-5 yrs old, that his heart sounds perfectly normal! John Dickson celebrated by 11 hours in the car with mom and dad - party #4.

That wasn't enough, so John Dickson made his way down to Hilton Head where he had a blast with his Kelley Grandparents and his Aunt Erin & Uncle Jason. He spent hours flying around the condo and dancing on the table - 2 of his favorites. He got all decked out in his bathing suit, hat, and yes, his Teva's to go stick his feet in the Atlantic Ocean for the very first time. And no, "he never did do that before!" Video below.
